Practical Nursing Remedial

Program Objective:

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
• Describe the roles of the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
• Identify the responsibilities of the PRACTICLE nurse.
• Apply theoretical knowledge in providing healthcare services.
• Perform essential nursing clinical skills.
• Communicate accurately and effectively with other members of the healthcare team.
• Demonstrate ethical behaviors.

Program Description:

The Practical Nursing Remedial (PNR) program prepares students to use specialized knowledge, skills, and essential competencies to meet the health needs of clients in a variety of healthcare delivery systems under the direction of a qualified health professional. Upon completion of this program students will receive a certificate of completion and a transcript from the institution, which verifies completion of the program.

Job Outlook

Employment of licensed practical and licensed vocational nurses (LPNs and LVNs) is projected to grow 11 percent from 2018 to 2028, much faster than the average for all occupations. As the baby-boom population ages, the overall need for healthcare services is expected to increase. LPNs and LVNs will be needed in residential care facilities and in home health environments to care for older patients. A number of chronic conditions, such as diabetes and obesity, have become more prevalent in recent years. LPNs and LVNs will be needed to assist and care for patients with these and other conditions. In addition, many procedures that once could be done only in hospitals are now being done outside of hospitals; creating demand in other settings, such as outpatient care centers.

I honestly don't know where to start when it comes to Wheatland. This place is for those who need & want a second chance. I've tried multiple times to get a degree, and I never was really able to get the hang of it. Everyone around me discouraged me because I just had given birth to my first child. But when I went to Wheatland, they provided me ways to not only handle being a full-time mother, but also a full-time student. They set up a daycare program for me; they found a non-profit to help me with transportation to and from school. I mean anything I needed, they were there.
